The Agreement on Climate Change, Trade, and Sustainability (ACCTS) was signed on November 15, 2024. The ACCTS is a pioneering trade agreement aimed at tackling environmental challenges while fostering economic opportunities. It focuses on promoting sustainable practices, including the elimination of fossil fuel subsidies, encouraging green technologies, and supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy. The ACCTS also emphasizes enhancing environmental goods and services trade, with provisions facilitating market access and reducing barriers. Furthermore, it fosters cooperation on climate-related issues and sustainable development. Signatories to the agreement, which include New Zealand, Iceland, Costa Rica, and Switzerland, are committed to upholding its principles and working together to achieve its ambitious goals.
